Pip and the Wand

Pip is a magical creature from a land far, far away. He’s come all the way here because he’s lonely and he’s looking for a friend. He only trusts magical people, and he finds you because he suspects that you have hidden magical powers. He’s determined to bring them out of you! To test his theory, he brought you a magic wand, and legend has it that if the wand makes twinkling, jingling sounds when you hold it, that you have secret magic powers! Pip falls asleep sometimes but he’ll wake up if you wave your hand or your wand in front of him. With you and Pip ready to take on the world together, who knows what journeys await you! 

Pip and the Wand were part of a toy design project exploring Arduino and its play potential. While Pip’s final design is a work in progress, his current design serves as a fun introduction to circuit board inclusion in toy objects. Pip’s design utilizes an IR motion sensor and an OLED screen that interacts with the Arduino UNO R4 Wifi. His OLED screen contains a default sleeping face and a changing range of facial expressions when his motion sensor is triggered. Pip also looks from side to side and blinks, switching between a happy, neutral, surprised, and excited facial expression.
